After 30+ years as an insurance broker, many with international firms, Michael N. Bass formed Blackstar in 2006. He felt that his experience in design and placement of loss sensitve accounts for multi-national corporations would be of value on a consultative basis. His vision was to build a boutique firm specializing in risk management and alternative risk solutions. He also wanted to address a void in the marketplace, in particular for high net worth individuals. As many clients have existing long-term relationships with a broker our alternative of offering consulting services would allow that relationship to continue. At inception, Blackstar was focused on providing risk management and alterntative risk solutions. Today they not only continue to offer those services, but also offer program design, captive formation services, reinsurance placement and investment capital for the insurance industry.
